The collective has worked diligently to establish infrastructure that will enable Maori land and forest owners to work together, learn together and succeed together, at scale. Importantly for Māori land owners the strategy must in the first instance be ‘by Māori for Māori’ – what’s good for Maori will be good for Northland and New Zealand.
We know this approach requires us to grow capacity and capability and that we must create job opportunities. There is opportunity to add value and participate in ancillary forestry sector businesses while adopting a much more globally orientated view. We are up for all that.
